Welcome. A funny thing happened yesterday - I was at Sam Goody where Tucker was getting his 4400: Season 2...and I saw a CD laying against something and picked it up and it was the Superman Returns soundtrack...which isn't supposed to be avaliable until the week of the movie release. Now I've had this opportunity before, where i've seen a DVD or CD out that isn't supposed to be on the shelf yet, and each time I've quietly gone to the counter and attempted to purchase the item (Graham - you remember Garden State, right?) and each time the alarm has gone off saying this item is not yet supposed to be released.
So I played Bizzaro World yesterday - the clerk was standing by me when I picked it up yesterday and I said aloud to Tucker "Hey, this isn't supposed to be out yet."
Which perked the guy's interest.
Wow, he said - I put 3 of those up already this morning, someone pulled them out by mistake last night, I thought I got them all. He went on to say I was right that it wasnt supposed to be avaliabe yet. I lightly slid the cd across the counter towards him and pulled out my wallet.
He laughed, shrugged his shoulders, and rang it up for me.
Ok so not that cool a stoy, but humorous none the less.
And a reminder that Superman is less than 2 weeks away from returning to movie screens after almost 20 years.

You know what I forgot, nevermind.

So I see this talk going around with headlines like "Smallville: Growing By Leaps and Bounds".
And you would think it would be referring to this being their "break-out" year. Which I don't agree with because, while this has had their highest ratings of any season...every season since the 2nd one has been their "break out year". They just get a little better each time, although Season 3 is still my personal fave. But these headlines are referring to rumors...rumors that a certain farm boy might be taking flight by season's end...adding that we may see a "whole world of change for CK" next season. Could this be true? Could Al & Miles have been strong-armed to revoke their early 2001 claim of "No Tights-No Flights"? They said no Kryptonians at that point too, but hell if we haven't had them keep popping up, considering Clark is the "Last Son of Krypton". I for one don't care about seeing him in the suit, cuz the show is not about Superman, which I like. But I wouldn't mine seeing a little flying action for more than 2 second jumps.

Blu-Ray and HD-DVD can kiss the fattest part of my ass. How the hell long did we have VHS before DVD's came out...like 25 years? Why they gonna screw me over now. I've been dreading this for 2 years since this blu-ray talk first started, and the first releases are hitting the shelves this week.
Typical liberal media. 615 DVD's later this crap happens. I know I know, it doesn't make DVD's obsolete or anything, and you have to have a High-Def TV + High-Def player to watch them...but LEAVE ME AND MY MOVIE COLLECTION ALONE. It's enough already. I don' t care about having 2 more lines of resolution in my movies, not when they already look as good as they do on DVD. I've compared 2 films next to each other and it's not worth the money for the switch. I remember, back in 1997 the first DVD I ever got...it was $40...it was a copy of Tomorrow Never Dies...hell the DVD player I got was the first one to be for sale in Tupelo and I got it at Lowe's for nearly $400. Way to go Financial America. Then people can get arrested without any proof or... nevermind...that's totally un-related.

And excuse me, but Basic Instinct 2...this really seems like it's gonna be a lot like the original.
Now why, you might ask, would you say that Derek? It's been like 12 years later, Ms. Stone is hotter than ever...why would I have a comment like that?

THAT'S WHY. Can we just use the same dialouge from the first time around while we're at it? I hate Hollywood while we're at it. Who makes a sequel to a film like Basic Instinct? I even saw a scene of her picking up an ice-pick. "But Derek, that's her M.O."....so the f*ck what...Let's just have a Michael Douglas flashback sequence through-out the whole movie.

Now I don't want to go on a rant, here, but America's foreign policy makes about as much sense as Beowulf having sex with Robert Fulton at the first battle of Antietam. I mean when a neo-conservative defenestrates it's like Raskolnikov filibuster deoxymonohydroxinate.

I see on digg.com that Coke is releasing a new product, that which combines coffee and coca cola.

Back to the Future IV: We Are Not Getting Sued

SPRING BREAK! Where are you? And where has this semester gone, I know I'm wishing it were next week already but jeez, it seems like just a couple of weeks ago I was layed up in bed from surgery over Christmas. May is steadily approaching.

I've heard whispers of the bachelor party stewing. I don't know if I should feel honored they're planning this far ahead, or be scared. Liked, tied up and thrown out of a moving car in the middle of the woods scared. That's scared.

I turned in my video project for TV Production this morning. Hope that it isn't too terrible, although I did mess up at the end, but considering I got done editing at 4:30am, I could've really cared less at this point. Now I've got to finish up my flat project in Stagecraft and Lighting by Friday afternoon, shouldn't be a huge feat.

Some day. The job hunt continues. With little to no success. Actually that's not entirely true, I have an interview Wednesday morning with ClientLogic. Maybe something will come of that.
We can only hope.

Spring Break can't get here soon enough. I need a break. And it's fixing to be time for engagement pictures, gotta look my best. I wonder if I can loose 50lbs in one week?

So I don't usually like music video montages of tv shows, especially Smallville cuz I think it doesn't do most things justice. But I kinda liked this one, if nothing more than somebody actually used a good song instead of some Jessica Simpson or Backstreet Boys crap. I think Graham will like this one.

So, here I am again. My goal in this setting is to bring a smile to at least one persons face with each new entry...namely Kary.

So my best friend Graham is taking this philosophy class here at MSU, and the class in question watched a Smallville episode (my speciality) in class Friday, in which, at the end of the episode (2x04 - Red) the teacher posed the following extra credit assignment to the class: -"Why does

Superman do the things he does?" (i.e. why does he choose to champion truth, justice, etc...), and be sure to factor red kryptonite into your answer. Also, be sure to appeal to Plato and/or Aristotle when answering.

ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? He only limited it to 2 pages...I could write a book. A class that Derek Russell could make an 'A' in? Surely, you gest. They aren't gesting...and don't call me Shirley.
